Most commercial services that help clean professional buildings provide a checklist of things that they do on a daily basis. This checklist also enables the commercial company to know exactly what is expected of them and ensures they do not miss tasks on a regular basis and can communicate properly with the individuals responsible for the nightly jobs.

Daily or nightly office cleaning takes a regular place of employment and turns it into a clean and efficient space for getting work done. Most employees will unanimously agree that a clean place of work helps them to think better and be more productive. As such, office cleaning should ensure that the following tasks are completed:

All waste should be removed. This includes trash bins by desks and in the kitchen. Garbage should not be allowed to pile up and recycling should be appropriately removed.

All floors should be cleaned. Whether rugs or tile or hardwood or anything in between, flooring should be vacuumed, mopped, and shampooed regularly.

All surfaces should be dusted and cleaned. This includes desks, tops of filing cabinets, shelving, and other surfaces in kitchen areas or lounge areas.

Fingerprints should be wiped away from windows or door handles and bathrooms should be bleached and cleaned.

Kitchens and bathrooms are particularly important. As high traffic areas in many business buildings, keeping kitchens and bathrooms clean helps promote cleanliness and health.

If you are an employer that currently uses a commercial office cleaning service that does not provide or utilize a checklist, it may be in your best interest to review your current contract with them. Discuss the checklist provided above and ensure you are getting the most for your money. If there are jobs on this checklist that the office cleaning company doesn’t currently perform, they may want more money to do more work. In the end, both parties should get what they want: a clean environment for employees to efficiently work.
